From the Teacher:

In math class this week, we will begin Chapter 3 in the book. We will discuss Lessons 2-5 about comparing numbers, ordering numbers, and rounding numbers to the nearest 10s and 100s place. In third grade we combine Social Studies and Science into a block and alternate subjects each week. This week we will continue our Social Studies unit on Communities. We will finish our discussion on Chapter 1 What Are Communities and then we will begin Chapter 2 Kinds of Communities. We will be reading and discussing Rural, Suburban, and Urban Communities. We will also be reading the story, The Man Who Walked Between the Towers, and discussing the character traits of the main character, Philippe Petit. If you have access to the Internet at home, Philippe Petit would be an interesting person to do a Google search about. He is a real person who did a wire walk between the Twin Towers back in 1974.
