From the Teacher:

In math class this week, we will continue Chapter 6 in the math book. We will be counting bills and coins, making equivalent sets, comparing money amounts, making change, and adding and subtracting money. Please note that all November Math Calendar homework will be due on Wednesday, November 30th. In Grammar we will be reviewing all skills from Lessons 6-9 which includes simple and compound sentences, common and proper nouns, abbreviations, and singular and plural nouns. This week we will continue our AMSTI kit on Rocks and Minerals. We will continue conducting different investigations with mock rocks this week and we will begin testing some different minerals. Our field trip to DeSoto Caverns is this Friday, so we will be learning even more about the different types of rocks and minerals! Students received new reading logs for the month of November. Please remember that reading logs MUST show a total of 60 or more minutes of reading per week. November has 4 weeks (we will not count the week of Thanksgiving), so that would be 60 x 4 = 240 minutes total for the month of November.

Newsletter

Remember that in addition to being out Friday, students will also be out next Monday, so they will have a four day weekend. In between having fun and relaxing, this would be a great time to take advantage of the long weekend by making sure your children read as many AR books as they can to test on when they return, as well as an ideal time to study and review their multiplication facts. We are still doing multiplication quizzes, and it is extremely important that your children learn and remember their multiplication facts. Please use this long weekend to have your child read and study their multiplication.

Below is a look ahead at next week's newsletter. (Note: You can also access a copy of the newsletter as a Word document to view, download or print by clicking here.)
