Newsletter

Below is the newsletter for this week. Please remember our field trip to the Anniston Museum of Natural History on Friday, Sept. 30, and note that I will not be sending Thursday folders home this week because of the field trip. We are also reviewing the same spelling words since we are ending Theme 1. I cannot stress enough how important it is for you to review the information from this newsletter nightly with your child. In addition to having homework assignments, it includes the spelling words, as well as the vocabulary words and definitions each week. Your child needs to study these every night along with his or her regular homework. We include a great deal of important information in this newsletters each week, with test material included in the newsletter, so please make it a priority to review these with your child each week. With your help and support at home, we can make this a wonderful school year and help your child reach his or her full potential!

From the Teacher:

In math class this week, we will finish Chapter 3 in the book. We will review Lessons 2-6 about comparing numbers, ordering numbers, and rounding numbers to the nearest 10s, 100s, and 1,000s places. In third grade we combine Social Studies and Science into a block and alternate subjects each week. This week we will continue our Science unit on the Human Body. We will discuss the different types of joints found in the human body and conduct various experiments and activities. We will also continue reading the story, The Man Who Walked Between the Towers, and discuss the character traits of the main character, Philippe Petit. If you have access to the Internet at home, Philippe Petit would be an interesting person to do a Google search about. He is a real person who did a wire walk between the Twin Towers back in 1974.
