· April Reading Logs will be due Friday, April 27th. We will be expecting a total of 240 minutes on this reading log. It only counts if each entry has parent initials. These are a Reading grade each month. Please be sure you help your child complete the required 60 minutes per week.
· We do have an April Math Calendar for this month. These are due by Tuesday, May 1st. Please be sure your child completes these before that date. It will count as a Math grade.

Lesson 26 Vocabulary
Please study these definitions with your child and practice using each word in a sentence. The students will be given a quiz on Friday that requires them to correctly match each vocabulary word to a sentence or definition.
1. bristly – If something is bristly, it is covered with short, stiff hairs.
2. dreadful – If something is dreadful, it is scary or terrible.
3. adamant – If someone is adamant about something, he or she is very determined and won’t change his or her mind about it.
4. inevitable – If something is inevitable, it cannot be avoided or stopped.
5. summoning – If you are summoning someone, you are calling for the person to come.
6. nuisance – Something or someone that bothers you can be a nuisance.
7. sedentary – If you have a sedentary job or lifestyle, you are sitting down most of the time.
8. oblige – When you oblige someone, you help the person.
9. boasting – Someone who is boasting is telling other people wonder things about himself or herself.
10. sway – When things sway, they swing slowly back and forth.

In math class this week, we will discuss Chapter 17 which is about measuring length, capacity, and weight in customary units. In Grammar this week, we will be discussing irregular verbs and having a quiz on these on Friday. In Science class this week, we will begin our AMSTI Chemical unit. For the month of April, we will be reading the book, Poetry for Young People by Langston Hughes and completing activities and poetry related to this book. If you have access to the Internet at home, you can research the author to learn more about him and his books.
