Newsletter

We now have less than a week until our Math Benchmark Assessment! Please keep in mind that the Math Benchmark will be on Thursday. It is important that you continue to review previously-taught and current math lessons with your child each night as they prepare for this test.

*Measure length using inches, feet, yards, and miles

*1 foot=12 inches

*1 yard=3 feet=36 inches

*1 mile=5, 280 feet

*Measure capacity using cups, pints, quarts, and gallons

*1 pint=2 cups

*1 quart=4 cups

*1 quart=2 pints

*1 gallon=16 cups

*1 gallon=8 pints

*1 gallon=4 quarts

*Measure weight using ounces and pounds

*1 pound=16 ounces

*Degrees Fahrenheit are customary units of temperature

Lesson 22 “Bat Loves the Night”

1. blanketed – If an area is blanketed in fog or snow, it is covered.

2. surroundings – The area around you is part of surroundings.

3. plummet – If you drop suddenly from a great height, you plummet.

4. inverted – Something that is turned upside-down or inside-out is inverted.

5. nocturnal – An animal that is nocturnal sleeps during the day and is active at

night.

6. effort – When you work hard, you use effort.

7. dozes – Someone who dozes takes short naps.

8. swoops- When something swoops, it dives or dips downward.

9. detail – A detail is a small piece of information that is part of a larger whole.

10. fluttering – When something moves through the air lightly and quickly, it is

fluttering.
