Calendar of Events:
·         Scholastic Book Orders will be due Friday, May 11th.  This will be our final order for the year.
·         May 3-May 7: School Holiday
·         May 11th: Field Day
·         May 17th: Awards Day Grades 3, 4, 5 at 12:00
·         May 24th: Last Student Day
·         There will not be an official Reading Log for the month of May.  However, students do need to continue the practice of reading for 15 minutes each night in preparation for DIBELS testing.
·         There will not be a May Math Calendar. 
·         Please remember the April Math Calendar is due this Tuesday, May 1st

The Science Fair
Lesson 28 Vocabulary

Please study these definitions with your child and practice using each word in a sentence.  The students will be given a quiz on Friday that requires them to correctly match each vocabulary word to a sentence or definition.

1. humor-When you have a sense of humor, it means you enjoy telling and hearing about things that are funny.
2.  abroad-If you go abroad, you go overseas to a different country.
3.  preparation-Preparation is everything you do to get ready for something.
4.  gimmick-A gimmick is a trick or a way to grab people’s attention.
5.  sprinkled-Something that has been sprinkled has had tiny pieces or drops of something scattered all over it.
6.  expand-When things expand, they get bigger.
7.  erupt-Something that erupts breaks out of something that holds it.
8.  thorough-If you do something in a thorough way, you do a careful and complete job.
9.  deliberation-Deliberation is thought and discussion that comes before making a decision.
10.  grainy-If something is grainy, it is not smooth but has many small, hard pieces.

From the Teacher:
In math class this week, we will continue to discuss Chapter 26 which is about adding and subtracting fractions.  In Grammar this week, we will be discussing contractions.  We will do Lesson 28 this week and next week.  All Language Arts testing will be Thursday, May 10th due to Field Day on the 11th.  In Science class this week, we will continue our AMSTI Chemical unit.
